How to read this archive

This archive can be read six ways: by artwork, by motif, by source-world, by constellation, by curated exhibition, by writing — or through the wiki.

A note on dates: every date in the archive is the date of the painting's final photograph, not the day it was painted. The work precedes the record.

Tags describe recurring visual symbols. Subjects describe references and source-worlds — the people, characters, and works the paintings draw on. Related Works show overlap between paintings. Constellations show the larger symbolic systems.

Some symbols have grown wiki pages with outside sources — start with the red sun, blue text, or Muhammad Ali. External artworks are always flagged and credited; everything else is by Paschal Wilson.
